Central air.

In Queens, central air is mostly in detached and semi-detached houses with ductwork, many of them in northeast Queens. Common failures are a capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit, a clogged condensate drain that shuts the system off, a dirty coil or filter that freezes the coil, and refrigerant leaks. We find the cause, show you, and price the fix before we start.

Ductless mini splits.

Mini splits are everywhere in Queens two-families and apartments. When a wall unit leaks water, blinks an error code or stops cooling, the cause is often a blocked drain line, a dirty filter or coil, or a communication fault between the indoor and outdoor units. Note the blinking pattern or code if you see one.

Older systems and R-22.

If your system was installed before 2010, it may use R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced in the United States. Recharging those systems is expensive and only delays replacement. We will tell you if that is what you have and what replacement would cost.

If it is time to replace.

A new central AC with coil starts at $8,900 installed. Single-room ductless systems start at $6,600, and a heat pump gives you heating as well as cooling.
