Which kind fits your Queens home.
- Two-family and attached houses (Astoria, Ridgewood, Woodside): ductless, one outdoor unit per apartment with a wall unit in each main room.
- Detached houses with ducts (Bayside, Fresh Meadows, Whitestone): a ducted heat pump on the existing ductwork, often replacing both a furnace and central AC.
- Co-ops and condos (Jackson Heights, Forest Hills, Long Island City): ductless, with board approval for the outdoor unit location.
Built for Queens winters.
We install cold-climate heat pumps rated to keep heating well below zero, so the system carries the house through a January cold snap. Many owners keep their existing boiler or radiators as backup for the first winter and decide later whether to retire them.
What it costs.
- Single-room ductless: from $6,600 installed
- Three rooms on one outdoor unit: from $15,500
- Ducted heat pump, 2 tons: from $15,900
Rebates and incentives.
Con Edison’s Clean Heat program and NYSERDA offer incentives for qualifying cold-climate heat pumps; in the Rockaways, electric service and its programs come from PSEG Long Island instead. Amounts, eligibility and contractor requirements change often, so check the current terms before you plan around a rebate. We will price your project with and without incentives.
Electrical and approvals.
Most heat pump installs need a dedicated circuit, and some older homes need a panel upgrade first. We check your panel during the estimate. For co-ops, condos and homes in historic districts, we work with your board or managing agent on outdoor unit placement before anything is ordered.
Your questions, answered.
Can a heat pump really heat my house in winter?+
Yes. Cold-climate models keep producing heat in single-digit temperatures. We size the system to the house, room by room, so it is not undersized on the coldest days.
Do I have to remove my boiler?+
No. Many Queens owners keep the boiler as backup heat, at least at first.
